Anni Singh grew up in a sub-urban slum outside of Kolkata. The family was too poor to be
able to keep her in school, and at the age of 19 she was married to a garment worker in
Fakir Bagan. After three months of marriage, Anni became pregnant, but her first pregnancy
ended in miscarriage. Anni then found herself coughing incessantly and was diagnosed with
Tuberculosis.

For each $250 mother and child sponsorship, you will receive three updates on the progress of the mother and child including a photo. The first will take place at the time of sponsorship - an introduction to the pregnant woman; the second will take place just after delivery introducing you to the new child with an update on the health of the mother; and the third will take place when the child turns two years old.
